Coming up with ideas for your trip

This is how I came up with the ideas for today's post. My point is that if you spend some time reading about the place you're at and checking out Google streetview, you will get more ideas and actually save time. You'll also make your story more "real".

1. I checked out my itinerary to see where I'd be and found Greenville that way.
2. I used Google Maps streetview to travel some of the way and got a feeling of what the town and the highway looked like. I took some pictures with screen capture.
3. I checked the weather, and discovered the fog warning that way.
4. I remembered Walgreens from my visits to the States and checked if Greenville had one - they did!
5. I went to the Walgreens webpage and checked out what they carried nowadays and what I might buy.
6. I checked the IDEA archive and found the woman and her story and found a way to fit her into my story (I got the idea from Chelline's blogpost)

Använd Google Maps och Street View!

För att ta bilden utanför restaurangen i mitt senaste inlägg och för att kunna se hur det såg ut i The French Quarter i New Orleans använde jag mig Google Maps och Streetview. Det är en tjänst där man kan zooma in på gator runt om i hela världen och se hur där ser ut. Jag har gjort ett kort videoklipp som visar hur ni kan använda det:

How to make your itinerary/ travel plan

1. Open a shared document for your group in Google Docs
2. Name it: “Travel plan” or “Itinerary”
3. Write Day 1-35 in the document
4. Try to make a sketch of your plans (where you’ll be on a certain day)
5. This document can be changed and revised as you start your trip - just like you would change and revise a travel plan in real life.
6. Publish the document on the web
7. Publish the web link somewhere on your blog

I have prepared paper maps for you. Use these if you find them helpful when you plan.

How-to use Lingro.com

This service is really great if you spend a lot of time looking up words when you read web pages in English. With Lingro.com, you don't have to leave the page you're on to look up words, because all the words will be become "clickable". When you click a word - a definition, or the Swedish translation will appear! Watch the video to see how to do it:
